BACKLAND STUDIOS is a purpose-built recording facility run by engineer Christopher barn. WE ARE Based in Elmington, not too far from peterborough.
Set in the idyllic East Northamptonshire countryside, Backland Studios promotes a relaxed environment for musical creativity. Our space features floating floors, an isolated control room, a soundproofed live room, and an acoustically balanced cedar wood live room.
We employ true analogue outboard equipment alongside digital conversion, resulting in a transparent signal path that captures your authentic sound while delivering a characterful musicality.
At Backland Studios, we focus on creating a rich, exciting mix for your music or production. We draw upon extensive music production, music coposition and engineering experience (including Distinction-level BA and MSc degrees), combined with our modular analogue console sitting at the heart of the studio.
Discussing your goals helps bring clarity and focus to the creative process. Outlining your project ideals allows us to streamline the approach efficiently, though we are equally happy to work spontaneously to capture unexpected results.
Production, mix-down, and mastering are the final stages of your project, and we believe they should be the most collaborative.

Deliverables and next steps
Once your project is complete, we will schedule a dedicated listening session to go over your work. This is fully included within your project scope at no extra cost.
When you work with us, we provide both full mixes and full masters as standard. Once the mix is finalised, our mastering engineer will liaise with you directly to handle any edits, adjustments, or feedback.
